The Centre for Contemporary Art and Sustainability (CACiS) El Forn de la Calç is located in an old lime kiln, one of the most representative of Catalunya’s industrial heritage, and is named after this restored group of buildings.

All the buildings of the El Forn de la Calç were restored following the principles of bioclimatic architecture, aiming for maximum comfort while applying the principles of sustainability and energy efficiency.

The investigation of this heritage became one of the main themes for the activities developed by the Centre, being the restoration of the dry stone buildings on and near the site one of the principal actions undertaken.
